Craig Kennedy to Lead Medicaid Plan Group
Kennedy got his start working for Republicans on the Hill.
Medicaid Health Plans of America (MHPA) has hired Craig Kennedy to be the group’s new chief executive officer.
Kennedy previously was executive director of the Association of Clinicians for the Underserved.

Earlier, Kennedy spent 14 years at the National Association of Community Health Centers. He entered that organization as director of public health policy and left as an associate vice president.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Willamette University and later earned a master’s degree in public health at George Washington University.
He got his start in public policy by working as a legislative correspondent for Sen. Robert Packwood, R-Ore. He also served as a legislative assistant for Rep. Jim Bunn, R-Ky., and as legislative director for Rep. Doc Hastings, R-Wash.
MHPA
MHPA was founded in 1995. Its 94 member plans provide or administer health coverage for about 23 million Medicaid enrollees in 37 states and the District of Columbia.
The group represents both for-profit and nonprofit organizations.
The group’s latest Form 990 filing available at FoundationCenter.org, for 2017, shows the group reported a $187,928 operating loss for that year on $3.2 million in revenue and $1.8 million in assets.
In 2017, the former MHPA CEO, Jeff Myers, earned $358,223. He left to become an executive at CareSource in Dayton, Ohio.
