Patricia Griffey to Lead NAHU
The group represents 100,000 health agents in Washington and state capitals.
Patricia Griffey, an Indiana insurance agent, is the new president of the National Association of Health Underwriters (NAHU).
NAHU is a Washington-based group that’s been trying to make health insurance agents’ voice heard in Washington and in state capitals. The group has about 100,000 members.

Griffey succeeded Rusty Rice, who is a regional vice president of sales at Avesis.
Griffey has been a risk management advisor at Healy Group Inc. of South Bend, Indiana, since 2012, according to her LinkedIn profile.
Griffey worked as an administrator at the Goodwin Company from 1987 through 2004. She was on the Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield agent advisory council from 1991 through 2009.
She started her own benefits firm, Page 1 Benefits Inc., in 1987, and changed the name of that firm to Page 1 Medicare in 2018. Page 1 Medicare offers Medicare advice for both individuals and employers.
Griffey was treasurer of NAHU’s Indiana chapter from 2006 through June 2013.
She served for three years as a NAHU regional vice president starting in 2013, and she became NAHU’s treasurer in 2016. For the past year, she has been the group’s president-elect.
She said in a statement that she’s thrilled to be leading NAHU.
“We are eager to continue working to advance NAHU’s mission, to support health insurance agents and brokers, and to improve the health care system nationwide,” Griffey said.
The other new NAHU officers are:
- President-elect: Dane Rianhard of Maryland.
- Vice president: Eugene Starks of Mississippi.
- Treasurer: Kelly Fristoe of Texas.
- Secretary: Eric Kohlsdorf of Iowa.

The latest Form 990 annual report available for NAHU at FoundationCenter.org is from 2017.
NAHU reported a $566,116 operating loss for 2017 on $6.9 million in revenue and $3.2 million in assets.
The group employed 30 people in 2017 and reported having 100 volunteers.
