Aite Group Launches Cybersecurity Practice

Machine-learning model is the next evolution for cybersecurity, according to an Aite report by team member and cybersecurity vet Alissa Knight.

A recent survey by TD Ameritrade found that cybersecurity was a No. 1 concern to investment advisors. To address that concern, Aite Group announced that it is launching a new cybersecurity practice. Aite is an independent research and advisory firm that focuses on financial services issues. The practice will provide “research into best practices and technical solutions that can strengthen the cyber risk profile of financial institutions” and other industries, according to the firm.

The new practices will be spearheaded by Gwenn Bézard, head of Aite Group’s research and consulting. The new practice will cover machine learning and AI, threat intelligence and endpoint security, identity and access management, cloud security, encryption, incident response and data privacy and regulation.

Also on the team is senior analyst Alissa Knight, “a self-described recovering hacker,” who serves as a thought leader, and will bring “actionable” ideas to the group. She has worked in cybersecurity for more than 18 years, having started two cybersecurity firms before launching her own venture capital fund.

Knight is the author of a recently released report, The Titans of AI and the ML Arms Race in Cybersecurity, which discusses machine learning  as “powering the next evolution” of cybersecurity systems and profiles 14 vendors whose cybersecurity solutions rely on machine learning.
