Key State General Election Results, for Agents
The voters have spoken. Here's a look at some of what they said.
Voters voted directly on insurance commissioner candidates in four states Tuesday.
Voters picked governors with the power to appoint insurance commissioners in many other states.

In some states, voters weighed in on ballot measures that could affect Medicaid and home care programs in their states.
Here’s a look at the election results.
Insurance Commissioner Elections
California
At press time, this race was still close to call.
Ricardo Lara (Democrat): 50.8% of the vote.
Steve Poizner (Independent): 49.2% of the vote,.
About 95.7% of the precincts are reporting results, but California takes several weeks to count all ballots submitted by mail. That means the final outcome for a close race may not be available until December.

Georgia
Jim Beck (Republican): 50.53% of the vote.
Janice Laws (Democrat): 46.82% of the vote.
Donnie Foster (Libertarian): 2.64%.

Nathaniel McLaughlin (Democrat): 37% of the vote.
Vicki Schmidt (Republican): 63% of the vote.

Glen Mulready (Republican): 61.97% of the vote.
Kimberly Fobbs (Democrat): 38.03% of the vote.

In all of these states, the current governor is a Republican, and the incoming governor will be a Democrat:

Medicaid Expansion Ballot Measures
Idaho
Proposition 2 is passing, with 60.8% of the vote, with 912 of 959 precincts reporting results.

Proposition 427 is passing, with 53.25% of the vote, with 1,372 of 1,3989 of precincts reporting full results and 10 precincts reporting partial results.

Medicaid Expansion Funding Ballot Measure
Montana
Initiative Number 185 would have raised the revenue needed to pay for Montana’s share of the cost of Medicaid expansion by imposing a new $2 per pack tax on cigarettes and a new tax on moist snuff.
Initiative Number 185 is failing. with 45% of the vote, with 371 of 669 reporting full results and 295 precincts reporting partial results.

Home Care Ballot Measure
Maine
State Referendum, Question 1, would have funded a new, universal home care benefits program by creating a new 3.8% tax on high-income residents.
Question 1 failing, with 38% of the vote, with 480 of 482 precincts reporting results.
