The Chattanooga, Tennessee-based carrier is developing a Unum Vision brand for the vision plans.

The tagline for that brand is “The benefits are clear.”

The carrier is giving the dental products the brand “Unum Dental,” with the tagline “Something to smile about.”

The vision plans will be available nationwide starting Jan. 1, the company says.

The dental plans will be available in the South and the Midwest starting Jan. 1, and in the rest of the country on Jan. 1, 2018, the company says.

Unum acquired H&J Capital LLC, the parent of Starmount Life, on Aug. 1.

Starmount is licensed to sell insurance in 49 states and the District of Columbia. AlwaysCare, a sister company, is a benefit plan administrator.

Unum, a company best known for its disability insurance plans and its Colonial Life worksite marketing business, says in the vision and dental marketing materials that it offers customized member ID cards, fast and accurate claims management, and a customer service team that answers 80 percent of calls within an average of 30 seconds. The company says its customer service call abandonment rate is just 2 percent.

In a fact sheet aimed at brokers, Unum says it can evaluate every employer request for proposals thoroughly and tailor the responses to reflect the needs of a broker’s clients.

The company says it also offers flexible plan design provisions.

“We give brokers more options to design unique plans,” the company says.
