Judge says military can’t deny same sex spouse benefits

Same-sex spouses of military personnel and veterans are on the cusp of receiving the same health and housing benefits as heterosexual spouses as the Department of Defense prepares to issue identification cards to same-sex spouses following the ruling of a district court judge in California last week. The judge ruled that the military cannot deny benefits to the wife of an Army veteran suffering from multiple sclerosis.
