Fireman’s Fund Insurance Co. has named a new President and CEO, Andrew Torrance, to succeed Lori Fouche, who has left to become president and chief operating officer at Prudential Group.

San Francisco-based Fireman’s Fund says Fouche left the company to pursue other opportunities to be closer to her family on the East Coast. Fouche is from New Jersey.

Fireman’s Fund says it expects Torrance, 60, to assume his new role later this summer. He has more than 30 years of experience in the insurance industry, most recently serving as CEO of Allianz UK. Fireman’s Fund is part of the Allianz Group.

Prior to his appointment as CEO in 2003, he was the director and head of the Allianz broker division. Torrance has also held senior and board positions at consulting firms and insurers, including London & Edinburgh and Boston Consulting Group. His appointment is still subject to approval by the board of directors of Fireman’s Fund Insurance Co.

Chairman of Fireman’s Fund, Gary Bhojwani, thanked Fouche for her contribution and says he is confident in Torrance’s ability to lead the company to be an expert provider of specialized insurance solutions.

Prudential says Fouche will have overall responsibility for life, disability and voluntary product offerings, sales and account management as well as service delivery and marketing. She will report to Stephen Pelletier, who has headed the business since 2012 as president. He will become CEO of Prudential Group Insurance.

Fouche — named CEO of Fireman’s Fund in 2011, replacing Michael LaRocco — made an appearance June 11 an event at the New York Public Library to celebrate the company’s 150th anniversary. She passionately spoke to the company’s history and support of fire departments while applauding agents for their roles in the insurer’s success.

Fouche joined Fireman’s Fund in 2006 after working for several years for Chubb where she had risen to the rank of senior vice president in Chubb Specialty Insurance. Prior to being named CEO of Fireman’s Fund, Fouche was president of Commercial Insurance. Before that, she was chief operating officer for Fireman’s Fund’s specialty business.
