Pershing has been in the mobile business for “two decades,” said CIO Ram Nagappan in a Wednesday press conference at Pershing’s Insite 2013 conference in south Florida, but at the conference the company is previewing a new app for iPhones and iPads to access its NetX360 technology platform.
The new app is “in production now” and is scheduled for a full rollout later this year, with versions for Android and Microsoft to follow, Nagappan said.
The new app uses the smart devices’ existing native apps, like location services and cameras, and is designed to help advisors be more efficient in their practice management efforts. In addition to providing a new interface to NetX360’s existing trading and accounts features, the app also includes new collaboration and self-service tools for advisors, including what Nagappan called an “advisor meeting mode” using licensed collaboration applications designed to help advisors and their clients share information securely.
The app also offers more enterprise-wide integration for larger firms, while using a “container” approach to security that allows the enterprise to place limits on the use of sensitive client information.
