Democrats have said they can cut Medicare spending by $400 billion without touching benefits. But it looks as if phasing in a higher eligibility age, hiking up Part B premiums and increasing Medigap cost-sharing requirements don’t count as “touching benefits.” (Except, of course, in a non-technical, real-world kind of way….)
The typical enrollee had a monthly out-of-pocket cost of $47 or lower.
The review rules will apply when the U.S. insurer has sensitive information about 1 million or more people.
The court could still take up the case after a lower court takes another crack at it.
