Two studies reveal that a majority of Californians fear that they cannot pay for long-term care either for themselves or a relative. The SCAN Foundation and the UCLA Center for Health Policy Research conducted one survey and found that half of the voters in the Golden State said they will need long-term care for a close family member in the next few years but won’t be able to afford it. In another study, three-fourths of middle-aged Californians report they could not pay for three months in a nursing home.
