Got calories and saturated fat? Got allergies? Got chemicals? Some say milk is not the super food it is touted to be. Milk has about “the same calorie load as soda,” said Neal Barnard, president of the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine. In the U.S., as many as 50 million people are lactose intolerant, which include 90% of Asian-Americans, 75% of African-Americans, Mexican-Americans and Jewish-Americans. Mass-produced milk is said to be filled with growth hormones and antibiotics to make cows lactate unnaturally. Milk allergies affect an estimated 3 million children in the U.S., varying from mild reactions to life-threatening. Other sources say you don’t need calcium as much as exercise and vitamin D, which you can get from sunshine, to maintain bone integrity.
One of the recorded votes on amendments was on a jab at short-term health insurance.
The policy will offer the insureds access to the SilverSneakers and WholeHealth Living Choices programs.
