Family caregivers turn to Internet for information and guidance (Pew Research)

Of U.S. adults, 30% help a loved one with personal needs or household chores, managing finances, arranging for outsides services, or visiting regularly to see how they are doing, according to a report from the Pew Research Center. Nearly 80% of caregivers have access to the Internet. Of those, 88% go online for health information, including looking up treatments, hospital ratings and end-of-life decisions. Almost 30% of online caregivers said their last search was solely focused on their own health or medical situation, compared with 40% of non-caregivers who go online for health information. Caregivers were not asked directly about the impact of the Internet on their deliver of care to their loved ones.
