Help Your Clients Recommend You on LinkedIn

Your article was successfully shared with the contacts you provided.

I believe that clients have far too much on their minds today to take the time to create a LinkedIn recommendation. The advisor must make it easier for his or her client to do the recommendation or it will likely not happen.

Send the following instructions to streamline the process of receiving a recommendation on LinkedIn:

Dear Client,

Thank you very much for going out of your way to offer the following testimonial that you have provided to me:

(Insert testimonial)

I am wondering if I can ask you for one more step. Given that we are connected on LinkedIn, would you be open to offering the same testimonial as a LinkedIn recommendation?

I have included easy step-by-step instructions to guide you through the process.

Thank you,

(Insert your name)

Step 1. Here is your testimonial. Highlight and copy it.

(Insert testimonial)

Step 2. Login to your LinkedIn account and find me in your contacts.

Step 3. Click on my contact listing to open my profile and click on “Recommend” in top right-hand corner.

Step 4. Click on “Service Provider” and fill out the form that opens up. Your testimonial can be pasted into the written recommendation.

Step 5. Click “Save” and you are finished!

One last thing: Make sure the testimonials/recommendations are sincere and from the heart, not canned. You could make it a goal to get a testimonial/recommendation every two weeks or every month to ensure your LinkedIn profile is being updated.

I don’t believe you can have too many sincere and from the heart testimonials/recommendations.
