MFS Names Geremia and Jessee as Co-Heads of Global Distribution

MFS Investment Management (MFS) announced Monday that Carol Geremia and James Jessee have been named as co-heads of global distribution. The two assume the role previously held by Martin Beaulieu, who has been named CEO of MFS’s Canadian business, formed by the recent acquisition by MFS of Toronto-based McLean Budden. In addition to their responsibilities as co-heads of global distribution, Geremia will continue to serve as president of MFS Institutional Advisors Inc., and Jessee will continue as president of MFS Fund Distributors Inc.

Geremia joined MFS in 1984 and held a variety of positions in the firm’s defined contribution business, MFS Retirement Services, including president of the unit from 2001 to 2004, when she was named president of MFS Institutional Advisors. In that role she oversees asset management for the company’s global institutional clients and discretionary managers.

Jessee joined MFS in 1987 and worked for 15 years as a wholesaler before joining the home office in senior sales management and dealer relations roles; he was named president of MFS Fund Distributors in 2004.

Beaulieu joined MFS in 1990 and served as president of MFS Retirement Services and of MFS Fund Distributors before being named head of global distribution in 2002. He also served as a vice chairman and member of the management committee of MFS. In September, Sun Life Financial, parent company of MFS and McLean Budden, announced it was purchasing the minority shares it did not already own in McLean Budden and transferring the business in an affiliated transaction to MFS, naming Beaulieu as the new CEO.

Cole Real Estate Investments Expands Capital-Raising Team With Dearing and Ryan

Cole Real Estate Investments announced on Sept. 29 a newly expanded sales team that will focus on bringing commercial real estate to a broader base of retail and institutional investors. The effort will be led by Brett Dearing in the newly created position of senior vice president, head of sales. Also joining the team is Jim Ryan in the newly created position of senior vice president, relationship management. Both Ryan and Dearing will report to Jeff Holland, executive vice president and head of capital markets.

Dearing joins Cole from AllianceBernstein, where he co-managed the RIA sales division. During his 20-year career, including five years at Goldman Sachs, he developed relationships with many leading institutional and retail channel investors and intermediaries. He will be responsible for strengthening Cole’s partnerships with RIAs, major wirehouse firms and regional broker-dealers.

Ryan joins Cole from Lincoln Financial, where he served as senior vice president, head of relationship management and internal sales. He will lead the effort to grow Cole’s intermediary relationships and provide guidance on business development, broker-dealer relations, due diligence and securities operations.

Sue Crosby Joins Mercer’s Investment Consulting Business

Mercer announced Monday that Sue Crosby had joined Mercer as a partner in the firm’s investment consulting business, based in New York. In this role, Crosby will focus on growing the firm’s implemented consulting business and will support its endowment and foundation consulting practice. In these arenas, Mercer recently acquired Hammond Associates in St. Louis and Evaluation Associates of Norwalk, Conn.

Prior to joining Mercer, Crosby initiated the endowment and foundation relationship management effort at Merrill Lynch. Most recently she led business development for Perella Weinberg, an investment outsourcing provider. In this role, she was responsible for growing the investment outsourcing asset management service focused on institutional clients including endowments, foundations, wealth management and other long-term investors.
