The National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) is taking applications from individuals who want to serve as funded or unfunded consumer representatives in 2012.
The NAIC, Kansas City, Mo., has set aside $120,000 to help participants in the Consumer Liaison Program speak up for consumers at NAIC meetings.
The NAIC refers to consumer reps who receive NAIC support for paying for travel to the meetings as funded representatives. Consumer reps who can afford to travel to the meetings without NAIC support can be unfunded reps.
Applicants for the consumer rep slots are supposed to work for groups that exist, at least in part, to represent consumer interests.
