The Electronic Healthcare Network Accreditation Commission (EHNAC), a nonprofit standards group created in 1993, is seeking technology firms that want to try a new accreditation program aimed at health information exchange technology service providers.
EHNAC, Farmington, Conn., is setting up an Outsourced Services Accreditation Program for Health Information Exchange Services (OSAP-HIE).
The program will review provider efforts to protect electronic health information, abide by any applicable nationally recognized standards, and provide related services such as clinical summary document exchange and consent management.
Once an outsourcer has EHNAC accreditation, health insurers and other organizations that apply for EHNAC accreditation themselves will not have to pay to send EHNAC to visit the outsourcer, EHNAC says.
