About 35% of U.S. consumers with health insurance say they would consider buying insurance on their own if they could get comparable coverage for a lower price.
Researchers at the National Business Group on Health, Washington, and Hewitt Associates Inc., Lincolnshire, Ill. (NYSE:HW), have published that figure in a summary of results from a March survey of 3,026 consumers ages 23 and older who get health coverage from an employer with at least 2,000 employees.
Although 35% of the consumers said they were willing to consider other coverage options, 47% said they plan to continue to use employer-sponsored health coverage in the next 3 to 5 years.
