Guardian Life Insurance Company of America is working with Mental Health America to raise awareness of the fact that depression is a common cause of disability.
Guardian, New York, notes that May, which is Disability Insurance Awareness Month, is also Mental Health Month.
The Life and Health Insurance Foundation for Education, Arlington, Va., introduced the disability month campaign program in 2007.
The MHA, Alexandria, Va., began the Mental Health Month campaign program in 1949.
Guardian will be promoting both awareness months by sponsoring an online quiz that is designed to dispel myths about mental illness and disability, the company says.
Whenever a visitor completes the quiz this month, Guardian will donate $1 per quiz, up to a total of $10,000, to support MHA mental health education efforts, Guardian says.
