Two companies catering to young adults have teamed up to offer health insurance and other insurance products to new college grads.

Next Generation Insurance Group L.L.C., Phoenix, Ariz., and AfterCollege Inc., San Francisco, announced an alliance to help recent graduates get health insurance during their transition from college to the workforce.

Under the agreement, NGI will market insurance products to AfterCollege members, including short-term medical insurance.

Recent research conducted by AfterCollege, an online career counseling service, found 78% of 2009 graduates have had a tough time finding a job and the health insurance that goes with employment.

The 2 companies note U.S. Census Data showing 13.2 million Americans between the ages of 19 and 29 are already uninsured, making this group the nation’s largest uninsured demographic group.
