Westport Insurance Corp. is now protecting midsize, self-funded employer-sponsored health plans against catastrophic claims in all 50 states and the District of Columbia.
Westport Insurance, Overland Park, Kan., part of the U.S. employer stop-loss insurance arm of Swiss Reinsurance Company, Zurich, offers self-funding coverage for fully insured employer groups with 100 to 1,000 employees, Swiss Re says.
Swiss Re believes the program is the first to offer self-funding coverage to fully insured, midsize employer groups on a national basis, the company says.
