AmeriHealth To Use MultiPlan Network

A Mid-Atlantic managed care company is giving members in-network access to doctors outside its main service area.

AmeriHealth New Jersey, Mount Laurel, N.J., a unit of Independence Blue Cross, Philadelphia, is renting access to the PHCS PPO Network from MultiPlan Inc., New York, for members of its AmeriHealth New Jersey plans.

The PPO network has contracts with 3,800 hospitals, 66,000 medical facilities other than hospitals, and 525,000 doctors.
