Employees of health care companies, social assistance agencies and food manufacturers may be far more likely than other workers to enroll in employer-sponsored wellness programs.

Researchers at Gordian Health Solutions Inc., Nashville, Tenn., have presented data supporting that conclusion in a summary of results from an analysis of 2 years of records for 1.3 million employees at about 125 Gordian client employers.

Workers and health care and social assistance employers were 157% more likely than the average Gordian client employer employee to sign up for Gordian wellness and health coaching programs.

Construction companies workers were only 44% as likely to sign up for the wellness and coaching programs, and utility company workers were only 22% as likely to sign up, Gordian researchers report.

Employees of finance and insurance employers were 92% as likely as the average Gordian client employee to sign up for the Gordian programs.
