A federal government delay in paying bills affected cash flow at Humana Inc. during the second quarter.

Here is a summary of the earnings report issued by Humana:

Humana Inc., Louisville, Ky.

REVENUE: $14 billion

MEDICAL MEMBERS: 11.5 million

2 Q 2007 Results

NET INCOME: $288 million

- Enrollment in commercial plans that Humana has owned for more than a year increased 4%.

- Enrollment in the HumanaOne individual and family health coverage program increased 45%.

- The amount of cash flow provided by operations fell to $104 million, from $477 million, partly because the federal government waited until July to pay $257 million in Medicare premiums that were due June 30, Humana reports.
