A health insurer says it has changed its personal health record service in response to results from 2 pilot programs.

Aetna Inc., Hartford, says it is revising the CareEngine PHR system to give users the ability to make the PHR information available to doctors through Aetna’s existing provider Web site system.

Aetna also is adding Health Tracker tools, which will keep track of each user’s body mass index, blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood glucose levels.

The PHR system now is available to about 6 million Aetna plan participants.

The pilot program version was available to 750,000 plan participants at 15 large employers.
