Career support and resources look different depending on the size and culture of the organization. Take a Fortune 500 company. Such a company is likely to have volumes of training courses available. It may have testing services and career counselors (or at least employee relations specialists) to work with employees as they evolve through their career. It has well-defined tracks on how to advance in the organization, either laterally or through the traditional pyramid. It devotes lots of money, resources, and time to developing and keeping employees. If an employee needs and wants this approach, he should probably consider a large organization.
