The Board of Directors of Putnam Investments announced that Robert “Bob” Reynolds has been named president and CEO of Putnam Investments. Charles “Ed” Haldeman, current Putnam Investments’ president and CEO, has been named chairman of Putnam Investment Management, LLC. Both appointments are effective July 1, 2008.

Reynolds was vice chairman and COO of Fidelity Investments from 2000 to April 2007 when he abruptly retired at age 55. Reynolds was for some time considered the heir apparent to Fidelity Chairman Ned Johnson.
