The parent of Phoenix Investment Partners already is preparing to sell the unit’s home.

Phoenix Companies Inc., Hartford, has listed Phoenix Investment Partners’ office building, at 56 Prospect St. in downtown Hartford, with a commercial real estate broker.

The asking price for the 93,000-square-foot building is $10 million, Phoenix says.

Phoenix plans to spin Phoenix Investment Partners off to shareholders later this year.

The unit has occupied 56 Prospect St., which has about 100 parking spaces, since 1994.

Phoenix Investment Partners has about 125 employees working in the building. The unit is looking for other office space in the Hartford area for those employees, according to George Aylward, the unit’s president.

Phoenix also has about 55 other employees working in the building, and those employees will move into the main Phoenix headquarters building, at 1 American Row, the company says.
