Humana Military Healthcare Services is setting up a toll-free behavioral health help line for active-duty service members and their families.

The number will be ready Dec. 21, allowing members and their families to call for assistance in locating behavioral health providers and scheduling mental health appointments, says Humana Military, an arm of Humana Inc., Louisville, Ky.

Humana staff will be available at the help line to judge the needs of callers and help make appointments with providers. The number will be available Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., in all times zones within the South.

In 2003, the Dept. of Defense awarded HMHS a contract to provide health benefits support and services to around 2.8 million active-duty and retired military and their eligible family members in the 10-state South region. The following year, the DoD awarded a contract to HMHS to provide such services and support to service members and their families in Puerto Rico.
