UnitedHealth Plan To Serve Patients With Alzheimer's

Evercare has set up a Medicare Advantage special needs plan for residents of Maricopa County, Ariz., who suffer from Alzheimer’s disease and chronic dementia.

The plan is the first Medicare special needs plan aimed at patients who suffer from those conditions, according to Evercare, a unit of UnitedHealth Group Inc., Minnetonka, Minn.

Enrollment in the Arizona plan for people with Alzheimer’s and dementia will start Nov. 15. Coverage will take effect Jan. 1, 2008.
