MetLife Buys Employee Benefits HMO

MetLife Inc. (MetLife) has agreed to buy SafeGuard Health Enterprises Inc., Dallas, a firm offering dental and vision benefits.

SafeGuard sells dental and vision benefit products in California, Florida, Texas and Nevada through health maintenance organization subsidiaries in these states as well as through an insurance subsidiary, SafeHealth Life Insurance Company.

MetLife and SafeGuard did not disclose terms of the deal, which is expected to close by the end of 2007.
