A health insurer has responded to controversy about Medicare Advantage marketing strategies by adding safeguards.
WellCare Health Plans Inc., Tampa, Fla., a company that provides health coverage for many Medicaid plan members and some Medicare plan members, says it is supplementing its current outbound callback enrollment verification program with an inbound telephone enrollment and verification process.
The phone call verification will be digitally recorded, WellCare says.
WellCare also is hiring an independent organization to run a “secret shopper” program in 5 states with relatively high enrollment levels in WellCare Medicare private fee-for-service plans.
WellCare Medicare private FFS plans now cover 32,000 consumers.
