Personnel Changes: AXA,, Transamerica, Others

AXA Financial Inc. says its life insurance wholesaling operations now will report to Jamie Shepherdson, an executive vice president.

Shepherdson also oversees the company’s wholesale distribution of annuity products to brokerage firms, banks and independent financial planners as well as to the company’s retail organization, according to AXA Financial, New York, which is a unit of AXA S.A., Paris, and the parent of AXA Equitable Life Insurance Company.

In other personnel news:

- Transamerica Capital Inc., Denver, has named Dave Paulsen to be an executive vice president and national sales manager for variable annuities.

Paulsen has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Nebraska and a master’s degree in business from Drake University.

Transamerica Capital is the wholesaling broker-dealer arm of Transamerica Life Insurance Company for variable annuities.

Transamerica Life, in turn, is a unit of AEGON N.V., The Hague, Netherlands.

- Humana Inc., Louisville, Ky., has hired Steven DeRaleau to be chief operating officer of HumanaOne, the company’s line of individual health insurance plans.

DeRaleau will be based at the HumanaOne home office in Waukesha, Wis.

DeRaleau previously worked for a Green Bay, Wis., health plan owned by UnitedHealth Group Inc., Minnetonka, Minn.

DeRaleau has a bachelor’s degree from Colgate University. He holds the Chartered Life Underwriter, Chartered Financial Consultant and Fellow, Life Management Institute professional designations.

- CNL Financial Corp., St. Paul, Minn., a unit of Securian Financial Group Inc., has hired Adam Swartz to be vice president, actuarial.

Swartz previously was a pricing actuary in the national programs division at the Travelers Insurance Company, St. Paul, Minn.

Swartz has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville.

Securian Financial is a unit of Minnesota Mutual Insurance Companies, St. Paul.
