The board of American Community Mutual Insurance Company has named Arthur Dummer chairman and Michael Tobin to be president.
American Community, Livonia, Mich., is a health insurer.
Dummer, who has been an American Community board member, is president of the Donner Company, Salt Lake City, an actuarial consulting firm, and executive director of the Utah Life and Health Insurance Guaranty Association.
Tobin is a consultant and lawyer who has been a member of the American Community board for 3 years.

- Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Tennessee, Chattanooga, Tenn., has hired John Giblin to be chief financial officer:
Giblin previously was CFO of Amedisys Inc., Baton Rouge, La., a home health nursing company.
Tennessee Blue also has hired Jim Srite to be chief actuary. Srite previously was senior vice president of data analysis for a Milwaukee-based health insurance unit of Assurant Inc., New York.
- The group insurance business at CIGNA Corp., Philadelphia, has hired Craig Guiffre to be senior vice president for sales and distribution.
Guiffre previously was vice president of the group life and disability business at Guardian Life Insurance Company of America, New York.
Guiffre has a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Lehigh University and a master’s degree in business from Manhattan College.
- Principal Financial Group Inc., Des Moines, Iowa, has hired 3 executives.
Principal brought in Dr. Mary Johnson to be national dental director.
Johnson has been a dentist in private practice in Guthrie Center, Iowa, for 20 years. She has a dental degree from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln.
Principal also has hired Chris Blair to be a vice president of consultant relations for retirement and investor services in San Francisco and Tom O’Grady to be regional managing director of its Illinois business center in Chicago.
