The National Committee for Quality Assurance wants to help patients, employers and health plans evaluate the quality of services provided by individual physician practices.

The NCQA, Washington, a group best known for efforts to develop scientifically tested measures for evaluating health plans, has released a draft of physician practice quality measures for public comment.

Many of the measures have been adopted by other physical quality measurement programs, the NCQA says.

A draft of the measures is on the Web at Document Link

Public comments on the measures are due in March.

The NCQA hopes to publish a final version of the measures, HEDIS 2007 Technical Specifications for Physician Measurement, in April.
