A Midwestern insurer has come out with 2 new voluntary insurance plans.
Assurity Life Insurance Company, a unit of Assurity Security Group Inc., Lincoln, Neb., has introduced the Accident Expense Plus and Disability Income Plus policies.
Assurity, which will be selling the individual policies at the worksite through its regional distribution system, says the new products are replacements for earlier voluntary insurance products.
Other revamped products are still in the pipeline, Assurity says.
The Disability Income Plus policy offers a choice of off-the-job or 24-hour protection either against accidents only or against the effects of both accidents and sickness.
The plan design includes a choice of 4 benefit periods of up to 2 years and a choice of 7 elimination periods.
Optional accident-only protection is available for spouses, Assurity says.
The Accident Expense Plus policy pays benefits when policyholders suffer certain types of injuries or need certain types of injury-related care. The policy also provides an accidental death benefit and coverage for dismemberment. Workers can choose between 2 levels of coverage, and they also can buy a short-term disability income rider.
