WellPoint Inc. announced it will make its consumer-driven health plan products available in all states and to all markets, including individuals and small groups, beginning Jan. 1.

Previously, WellPoint, Indianapolis, sold these products only to national employers’ members.

WellPoint plans more than a dozen states will offer the CDHPs, which were developed by a Lumenos, a company it acquired last year.

The plans offer extensive preventive care and personal health coaching, including education in smoking cessation and weight management. In addition, most consumers in these plans can receive financial rewards for completing various wellness programs.

WellPoint says it expects to expand these products to its existing markets beginning Jan. 1, including individuals, small groups and large groups. A few markets will see the products later in 2007.

WellPoint, an independent licensee of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association, Chicago, does business in California, Colorado, Connecticut, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Maine, Missouri, Nevada, New Hampshire, New York, Ohio, Virginia and Wisconsin.
