MetLife Inc. is offering a long term care insurance program for small groups that lowers minimum participation levels required to qualify for discounts.

The company’s new VIP2 Multi-Life Discount Program reduces the participation requirement from 10 to 3 approved lives. The benefit can be purchased as a voluntary or employer-paid benefit.

The reduced membership requirement gives small employers an opportunity to offer more benefit options at an affordable cost, said Scott Beck, national director of MetLife Long Term Care.

The new options offer discount rates of 5% or 10% and the ability to count retirees and eligible family members toward the participation requirement at the same discounted rates as employees.

The benefit is available in all states except New York and New Jersey.
