A large retirement services vendor is trying to lure harried wirehouse reps and independent broker-dealers with information care packages.

Principal Financial Group Inc., Des Moines, Iowa, says it is delivering the packages to third-party advisors through an expanded team of “directors of business development.”

Principal increased the size of the DBD team to 17, from 8, to improve support for outside advisors who are starting to see opportunities to help employers add or improve 401(k) plans and other retirement plans.

Care package topics include guides to creating an effective sales and service process, building an advisor presentation and benchmarking a client’s existing retirement plan.
