Former White House Lobbyist Joins Insurer

Hartford Financial Services Group Inc. has hired Matthew Kirk, the outgoing deputy assistant to President Bush for legislative affairs, to be vice president of federal affairs.

Kirk, who will be based in Washington, spent 6 years at the White House. When he left, he was the president’s chief lobbyist for the U.S. Senate.

Earlier, Kirk was the senior floor assistant for the assistant majority leader, Sen. Don Nickles, R-Okla.

Kirk has a bachelor’s degree in international relations from Michigan State University.
