The American Association of Employees and Self-Employed Persons, New York, will introduce the health insurance Jan. 1 at rates it says are well below those offered by large commercial carriers in the area.

The insurance is offered through Atlantis Health Plan, a unit of Atlantis Health Systems Inc., New York.

Rates will begin as low as $272 per month, a savings of as much as $800 a month over other health plan rates in the area, according to AAESEP.

The organization says it expects to offer the same insurance nationwide “in the coming years.”
