Firm Hires Mass. Blue Vet For Patient Record Program

MEDecision Inc., Wayne, Pa., has hired Gary Austin to be vice president.[@@]

MEDecision is a health insurance software and services company that does business with more than half of American Blue Cross and Blue Shield plans. Austin will be helping the company develop the Payer-Based Health Record, an electronic health record that would store patient data obtained from lab tests, doctors, pharmacies, care management programs and patient surveys.

Austin, who previously was health management systems director at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Massachusetts, Boston, has a bachelor’s degree from the State University of New York at Geneseo and a master’s degree in business from the University of Rochester.
