Reuters is reporting that Sen. Pete Domenici, R-N.M., vowed on the Senate floor Thursday to identify Republican colleagues who acted anonymously to block his mental health parity bill.[@@]

The bill, S.B. 486, would require health insurers to provide the same kinds of benefits for serious mental illnesses that they provide for other serious illnesses.

Domenici, who has talked about his daughter’s fight against schizophrenia, reportedly went home but returned to the Senate floor to comfort Sen. Gordon Smith, R-Ore., who spoke on the Senate floor Thursday about his son’s suicide in connection with efforts to pass a suicide prevention bill.
