A unit of WellPoint Health Networks Inc., Thousand Oaks, Calif., is using vans to help families apply for the state’s children’s health insurance programs.[@@]

The unit, Blue Cross of California, is sending 2 vans to enroll children in the state’s Medi-Cal program for low-income children and Healthy Families program for moderate-income children.

The vans are set up so that families can complete and submit applications on board the vans, WellPoint says.

California Blue will send the outreach vans to local events and community-based organizations throughout California to encourage onsite applications, the company says.
