Aetna Adds Del., Pa. Individual PPO Plans

NU Online News Service, March 26, 2004, 2:03 p.m. EST – Aetna Inc., Hartford, has started selling new health insurance products aimed at individuals and families in Delaware and 50 Pennsylvania counties.[@@]

The 3 new Aetna Advantage preferred provider organization plans all offer coverage for routine preventive care, specialty care, hospitalization and surgery, diagnostic testing and emergency care. The plans also include some prescription drug coverage.

Customers who pay extra can buy dental coverage.

Aetna is selling the plans both through independent insurance agents and a direct sales program, and it hopes to begin selling similar products in 4 additional states later this year.

Aetna began offering a health maintenance organization program for individuals and families in 32 Pennsylvania counties in March 2003.
