March 22, 2004 — Strong Financial Corp. said Paul Berg, who helped manage two of its stock mutual funds, has left the company.

A spokesman for Strong said he did not know the future plans of Berg, who had piloted the Strong Endeavor Fund (SENDX) and the Strong Advisor Endeavor Large-Cap Fund/A (STALX) since their inceptions in 2001.

Thomas Pence, who had run both funds with Berg, continues as their sole manager. Both joined Strong in late 2000 from Conseco Capital Management Inc., where they were portfolio managers.

For the year ended in February, the $35-million Advisor Endeavor Large-Cap fund returned 43.8%, versus 37% for its large-cap blend fund peers. The $4.7-million Endeavor fund gained 42.3%, versus 35.3% for the average large-cap growth fund, for the same period.

Both funds are too new to be ranked by Standard & Poor’s.
