Investment Style Overview

Holds stocks, bonds and cash. Uses computer screens to determine asset allocation. Screens measure historical returns of stocks relative to other two asset classes, taking volatility into consideration. Equities are divided among large and mid-sized growth and value stocks, as well as international stocks in developed and emerging markets. Bonds include high-quality fixed-income securities and small amount of high-yield bonds.

*Expanding margins.

*Large or leading market share.

*Company’s financial fundamentals weaken.

*Valuation becomes excessive.

Biographical Notes

Jeff Tyler is a senior vice president with American Century Investments and is responsible for its three asset allocation funds. He joined the company in 1987. Prior to that, he was an assistant vice president for Citicorp Investment Bank. He holds a B.A. in business economics from the University of California at Santa Barbara, and an M.A. in finance and economics from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst.
