NU Online News Service, Nov. 6, 2003, 12:15 p.m. EST – PacifiCare Health Systems Inc., Cypress, Calif., has launched HealthCredits, a free program that rewards health plan members for taking steps to improve their health.

PacifiCare plan members who eat better, exercise and join health management and disease management programs will win points for their efforts. The members can use the points to get discounts on health-related items or to enter drawings for prizes such as treadmills and mountain bikes.

PacifiCare is encouraging employers to offer extra vacation days and other incentives to employees who collect large numbers of points.
