NU Online News Service, Nov. 5, 2003, 9:38 a.m. EST – Blue Cross of California, a unit of WellPoint Health Networks Inc., Thousand Oaks, Calif., has promoted Michael Higgins to senior vice president of its large group division.
Higgins will oversee sales, administration and underwriting for public and private employers with more than 50 employees.
Higgins previously was general manager of Blue Cross special and national accounts. He started working for WellPoint in 1983.
Higgins began his career as a group underwriter for Transamerica Occidental Life, Los Angeles. He has a bachelor's degree in philosophy from the University of California at Riverside.
