TOWSON, Md. (HedgeWorld.com)–Campbell & Co. Inc. hired Craig Weynand as vice president and future general counsel, effective Oct. 13.

Terri Becks, chief financial officer, said Mr. Weynand has passed the New York State Bar exam and is waiting to be admitted, hence the “future” counsel designation. Once he is admitted, he will oversee Campbell & Co.’s compliance and regulatory oversight efforts and focus on other legal issues. Mr. Weynand also will work with staff on new product offerings.

Campbell & Co. hired Mr. Weynand because the firm is growing, Ms. Becks said, but the hiring also coincides with increased regulatory and legal oversight of alternative investment managers and mutual funds.

“We will welcome the in-house expertise,” Ms. Becks said.

Previously Mr. Weynand was vice president and director of product origination and analysis for Morgan Stanley’s managed futures division. Officials at Morgan Stanley did not return calls by press time seeking information about who, if anyone, replaced Mr. Weynand.

Campbell & Co. is a registered commodity trading adviser that manages US$5.5 billion in global futures, commodities and equity portfolios for retail and institutional clients.
