NU Online News Service, July 21, 2003, 12:36 p.m. EDT – Great-West Life & Annuity Insurance Company, Denver, says it will be marketing all of its employee benefits operations under the Great-West Healthcare name.

Great-West is making the change to “consolidate several entities and eliminate potential market confusion over different carriers and networks,” the company says.

The name change will affect group health units that now go by the names Great-West, Alta Health & Life, One Health Plan and First Great-West.

The change also will affect the New England Financial group business now administered by Great-West, Great-West says.

Great-West helps administer self-funded employer health plans that provide medical coverage for 2 million people.

Great-West Life & Annuity Insurance is an affiliate of the Power Company of America, Montreal.
